Meet Dr. Jernigan
Dr. Hugh Jernigan is a general and cosmetic dentist with over 10 years of experience. He is passionate about building relationships with patients and creating beautiful smiles. He earned a BA in Spanish Linguistics from High Point University and a BS in Health Sciences from Arizona State University. After graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2012, he completed his AEGD residency at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the SPEAR Study Club.
As a judgment-free practice, Dr. Jernigan works with patients to develop a plan that addresses all concerns and keeps them on track for exceptional long-term oral health. Having extensive experience with nervous patients, he is able to put them at ease during their dental treatment. “It is such an honor to be a part of this wonderful practice!” says Dr. Jernigan. “We have a fantastic team of professionals and are proud to continue the tradition of individualized care in a beautiful and welcoming environment.”
Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Jernigan has been living in Arizona since 2002. During his free time, he enjoys swimming, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to having two Golden Retrievers, he has studied classical piano performance for more than twenty years.
Meet Mary Ann
Business Manager
Mary Ann is our business manager at Kierland Dental Studio and has 20 years of experience in the dental field. Upon graduation from Phoenix College, Mary Ann completed training at Luke Air Force Base as well as the Red Cross dental assisting and OSHA programs. Over the course of her 20 years in the dental industry, she has completed various training and management courses. Mary Ann enjoys developing relationships with patients and assisting them in maximizing their insurance benefits. Her greatest pleasure is helping patients achieve their dental health goals.

Mary Ann is the proud wife of a Medical Officer in the Navy, 14 years Navy with prior 15 years in the Marine Corp. Together they share three beautiful children: a son in the Air Force for the past six years; a daughter who just graduated from medical aesthetic school; and the youngest, an honor roll student in high school.
Meet Cathie
Clinical Coordinator, EF Dental Assistant
As a clinical coordinator and EF dental assistant, Cathie has over 27 years of experience in both general and oral surgery dentistry. She feels fortunate that she has worked with some of the most talented dentists, including Dr. Jernigan. She holds an Associate of Science degree from Keiser University in Florida and EFDA certification from IRSC in Florida, as well as membership in the ADAA (American Dental Assistants Association). She values the relationships she develops with her patients and remains committed to providing them with the best possible oral healthcare experience. It is rewarding for her to be able to make someone happy by treating them with respect and compassion.
“I enjoy helping people smile and ensuring their comfort during their dental visits as we build trust in our relationships. We ensure they have confidence that our team will work towards their best dental health,” says Cathie. “Our team at Kierland Dental Studio is outstanding and provides the highest quality of care to all of our patients. Together, we assist our patients in understanding their dental health care needs and guide them toward optimal dental health.”
Originally from Florida, Cathie moved to Phoenix almost two years ago and is delighted to have made it her new home! She is looking forward to exploring all the beauty of the Arizona outdoors. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, reading, and spending time with her family. She is the proud mother of two sons, two grandchildren, and four “grand-fur-babies” (three dogs and one cat).
Meet Candice
Dental Assistant
Candice is a dental assistant with more than 15 years of experience who earned her degree from The Bryman School of Dental Assisting. She enjoys developing relationships with patients and listening to their stories and experiences. In her opinion, lighthearted conversation can sometimes enable everyone to enjoy their day a little bit more.
“I fully understand that visiting the dentist is not everyone’s favorite activity, but I believe that I am able to offer a calm voice that allows my patients to feel comfortable and have a positive experience,” shares Candice. “It is a pleasure for me to work for Kierland Dental Studio because of the warm and welcoming feeling you get when you walk into the office. As dental professionals, we love what we do and like to have fun while doing it.”
In her spare time, Candice enjoys going to the movies with friends, spending time by the pool, and watching a good Netflix series.
Meet Erin
Registered Dental Hygienist
Erin is a highly experienced registered dental hygienist with 24 years of experience providing exceptional patient care. She received her AAS degree from Hudson Valley CC in Troy, New York.
Erin’s friendly, upbeat, and compassionate personality make her patients feel at ease and comfortable during their appointments. Patients appreciate her ability to listen to their concerns, address their needs, and provide gentle care that minimizes discomfort.
“I enjoy creating long-lasting, trusting relationships with our patients. I take pride in helping them achieve and maintain optimal oral health through education, preventive care, and personalized treatment plans.”
Erin is originally from Watertown, New York. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two teenagers and three dogs. She loves being on the beach and soaking up the sun.
Meet Meghan
Registered Dental Hygienist
Meghan is a registered dental hygienist with 5 years of experience and earned her credentials from Oakland CC in Highland Lakes, Michigan.
“I love getting to know our patients and growing with them over time. I enjoy the opportunity to change what some may consider a fearful situation into a comfortable and enjoyable experience.”
Patients appreciate Meghan’s dedication to providing the same level of care and services she would give her own family. She strives to create a safe and comfortable environment for her patients, ensuring they always leave with a smile.
In her free time, Meghan indulges in her creative side, painting local murals and illustrating children’s books. She also volunteers on the weekends, working with children and providing face-painting and character interactions. Meghan loves to travel, especially anywhere with water.
